What can DDRC do?

The Developmental Disability Resource Connection (DDRC) empowers individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and their families. DDRC provides services, community resources and Alaska Medicaid Waiver application assistance.

Who Is Covered?

In order for a person with an intellectual and/or developmental disability to receive assistance through the State of Alaska, they must first be determined developmentally disabled as defined by state law. The State defines an Intellectual and/or Developmental Disability (IDD) as a severe, chronic disability that:

  • Is attributable to a mental and/or physical impairment.
  • Is manifested before age 22 and is likely to continue indefinitely.
  • Results in substantial functional limitations in three or more of the following areas of major life activity:
    • Self-Care
    • Learning
    • Mobility
    • Self-Direction
    • Capacity for Independent Living (for individuals 16 and older)
    • Economic Self sufficiency (for individuals 16 and older)
