The Independent Living Center provides services to Alaskans who experience significant vision loss or blindness. We can facilitate individualized evaluations through low vision clinics with specialists from the Alaska Center for Blind and Visually Impaired (ACBVI) to recommend various low vision aids, orientation and mobility training, home and lighting modifications, and other resources to help you live more independently within your home. ILC staff can also demonstrate a variety of low vision aids and assistive technologies. We can make suggestions to adapt and live successfully with vision loss. Each of our ILC offices have a variety of assistive technology devices and equipment that can be borrowed or rented before purchasing your own.
