There's TOO MUCH going on this week!  It wouldn't fit onto a 1-page calendar unless I left off the weekly events that are the same week to week--so check out last week's calendar to look up public skating (here’s a link to the rink’s schedule:, the Art of Falling and Rising (every Saturday), WYNNter Sundays Fun-days, and  Move to the Groove and TRAILS Qi Gong and Tai Chi (on Thursdays).  And remember, you can always find TRAILS calendars at:

I'll see you tonight at the Big Read Kick-Off!  (Check out this link for more on that:

This town's got LOTS of fun stuff to do!  Here's the calendar to prove it: weekly events January 12-19.pdf

There’s a fun mix of possibilities this week, like...
    • Walking with a Doc to get expert advice on cancer,
    • getting help for an ailing computer or tablet,
    • moving in healthy ways,
    • exploring a woodsy winter wonderland, or
    • reflecting on past and future—both at Thriving Thursday and at Friday’s BIG READ kick off.
Check out the calendar for details: weekly events January 5-12.pdf

And speaking of the BIG READ, this year's book is Can’t We Talk About Something More Pleasant? which is a "graphic novel" memoir by Roz Chast focusing on her parents' aging. As we all know, aging is for EveryBODY, so it DOES make sense to talk about it.
If you'd like to join TRAILS at the BIG READ kick off and could use a little help making that happen, give me a buzz.

Maybe the best way to bring in the New Year is to go outside and say “YAY” for our beautiful snow, then grab your skis or snowshoes and head out on one of the many trails around town, from the Baycrest Ski Trails in the Homer Demonstration Forest and Diamond Creek Recreation Area to the Eveline Trails out East End Road.  And if you want to skate or dance or do crafts or learn to move more freely or even fix your PC or Mac, check out this week's calendar right here: weekly events December 29-January 5.pdf and go for it!

Join TRAILS on Christmas Eve afternoon (Monday) for free skating (including skate rentals) at the Kevin Bell Arena.  All it costs is a canned food item to donate to the Food Pantry.  We will leave the ILC parking lot at 1:30.  Let Devony know at 299-3244 if you’re interested in getting a ride between ILC and the arena.  (Also, I'm trying to confirm with the arena that they'll make available the ice hockey sledge and sticks that TRAILS loaned them so folks in wheelchairs or with other mobility issues could skate too!)

Check out the calendar here: weekly events December 22-29.pdf for plenty more fun more activities to fill you with holiday cheer.

Lots of fun stuff this week!  This and next Friday and Saturday, you can enjoy the beautiful holiday Garden of Lights at Bear Creek Winery.  Stroll among the brightly lighted displays and finish up with a hot cup of cocoa around a fire.  TRAILS will shuttle a couple of car fulls to Bear Creek Winery next Friday—December 21. Call or text Devony at 299-3244 to sign up, and then meet at ILC.  Or you guys might want to share a cab ride over using one of your vouchers.

Check out the calendar right here:  weekly events December 15-22.pdf.  Other highlights include tomorrow’s outdoor scavenger hunt at I&O and Monday’s concert by Homer High students.  There are also book signings and sewing bees and author readings and more.  And notice that SVT’s Thriving Thursday is an hour earlier this week to accommodate the busy schedule of Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus.

OK, as you can see in this week's calendar right here: weekly events December 8-15.pdf, you could do all this TOMORROW (Saturday) in ONE day—
    • learn to fall and get up in ways that are good for your body,
    • trim a tree in ways that are fun and good for wildlife,
    • make DIY holiday crafts in ways that are good for your wallet, and
    • go see the Nutcracker ballet--which will be good for your heart.
Only in Homer could you have that much fun despite this much rain!!

Check out ALL the other stuff to do this week too!

(And the beautiful Garden of Lights begins Friday at Bear Creek Winery.  Hopefully it will fit on NEXT week’s calendar!)

Well, wasn't that an exciting shaker?!  May you, your family, and all your friends be safe and OK.

Maybe a little outing will help to settle your nerves--you’ll find lots of things in this week’s calendar to help you feel holiday happy—like how about decorating a tree for wildlife or using bees wax to wrap gifts!  Check out ALL the activities on this week's calendar right here: weekly events December 1-8.pdf

And, of course, the Nutcracker Faire and Ballet is a BIG highlight December 1-2.

  • Monday, November 26, 2018 9:40 AM | Devony Lehner (Administrator)

The calendar is a bit late this week because of the holidays.  The Nutcracker Faire is a BIG highlight this week, December 1-2.

But there’s LOTS more to do this week—performances, geocaching, a mini marine symposium, and more!  Check out what’s happening in the calendar right here: weekly events November 24-Dec 1.pdf

Happy Thanksgiving, EveryBODY!  There are lots of fun things going on this week, and two places serving free Thanksgiving dinner.

Wednesday noon, TRAILS will say Thanks with a warm fire, pies, and hot drinks at Bishop’s Beach.  On Thursday, enjoy a Thanksgiving feast compliments of the good folks at Refuge Chapel (they start serving at 2 pm) or Homer United Methodist Church (they start serving at 3 pm).  You can find addresses in the calendar.

And to start the week, have a wonderful Saturday watching a free film at Islands and Ocean and then strolling to the library for a storytelling Tellabration.  Or if you’re a Veteran, start the day at the Veterans Fair at SVT.  On Friday, dance off the pounds at a Square and Contra dance at West Homer Elementary.  For more fun activities, just check the calendar right here:  weekly events November 17-24.pdf

    Greetings, EveryBODY,

Here are just a few highlights to get you thinking about this weekend and next week:

    • The first Christmas Bazaar of the season is tomorrow at Faith Lutheran Church.
    • And as you know, Sunday is Veteran’s Day.  A celebration honoring Vets starts 11 am at Lake Street and Pioneer Ave.
    • And since then you’re in the area, at 2 pm you can watch Homer participate in the Worldwide Dance for Kindness at the High School.
For lots more things to do, check out the calendar right here: weekly events November 10-17.pdf, and have a wonderful week!
