    Howdy Everybody,

I hope you're having a happy, thoughtful, sweet Memorial Day with friends and family!  (I've spent the weekend helping settle in a new housemate and her HORSE .  That makes 5 ponies for TRAILS to visit up here at Bay Ridge Ranch.)

No highlighted activities this Memorial Day weekend except last Saturday's Farmers Market, but things start hopping again tomorrow--Tuesday--with Libraries ROCK.  And this calendar takes us into June!  Here's the calendar: weekly events May 27-June 2.pdf

It sure has started to feel like summer. That means TRAILS will be saddlin' up and ridin' off into the Cooper Landing sunset for our annual Alaska Horsemen's Adventures weekend. It's one of our favorite One Hit Wonders, check out others at:

For other fun things to do this week, how about celebrating “Libraries Rock” or the Farmers Market on Wednesday and Saturday (including Kids doing the sales next Saturday) or a big garage sale at Faith Lutheran Church. And of course, June's first Friday means it's time for a lovely stroll through Homer's art galleries from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday. And don't forget, you can always check out recreation offered through City of Homer Parks and Recreation at this link

    Howdy, EveryBODY,

It must be GROWING SEASON, because Homers Fabulous Farmers Market opens NEXT Saturday, May 26.  Stroll in for fresh produce, tasty food, varied crafts, and fun entertainment—including the Kenai Peninsula Brass Band at 1 pm. And since plants are budding out and greening up, this week you can buy plants (THIS Saturday) and learn how to make nettle tea and fruit leathers later in the week. Something for everyBODY!

Also this is a great week for listening to (and even telling) stories—check out events at the Homer Public Library on Saturday and Monday.

Check out ALL of the activities highlighted in this week's calendar: weekly events May 19-26.pdf

    Happy Shorebird Weekend, TRAILS friends

Yes, this is the weekend when the town is alive with migrating birds and folks who've come to see them—it's the Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival. To see ALL the great festival activities, pick up a schedule at the Homer Chamber of Commerce or check it out online: Some fun Shorebird events are highlighted in this week's calendar, but there are too many to highlight here, so grab a schedule and mark your calendar. Islands and Ocean Visitor Center is a great place to check out what's happening this weekend.

There are other fun activities too--so check them all out right here: weekly events May 12-19.pdf and get out and enjoy!

    Hi gang,

I apologize for sending such a big file for next week's calendar.  I think it's because I included an image from the Shorebird Festival, which starts next week.  (Be sure to check out all the Shorebird Festival events at the link on the calendar!)  Anyway, I'm off to Anchorage with a group of folks to catch the train to Fairbanks for our big train adventure--so this is a bit of a rush to send out.  But here's your calendar, full of things to do! weekly events May 5-12.pdf

Happiest weekend to all o f you!!!

    Howdy EveryBODY,

Spring must be here, because the City of Homer 2018 Spring-Summer Community Recreation Guide is out. You can pick up a copy at the Community Recreation office at Homer High School or check it out online: And if you want to help with the town's annual pre-Shorebird clean up May 5, see the flyer that follows this week's calendar.  And here's the calendar: weekly events April 28-May 5.pdf

But here's something really exciting, join TRAILS and sign up for the Independent Living Center TEAM in the “Step Up” challenge. Come to WKFL Park from 3 to 5 pm on Monday to sign up and receive a free pedometer that will count your steps; or sign up online: Then start stepping! At the end of May, individuals and teams who've taken the most steps can win prizes. So join the ILC TEAM—the more who join, the more steps our team will collect. Devony will be at WKFL Park on Monday to sign up for the ILC team and to cheer on others signing up. So STEP UP EveryBODY! (Hey Dean and Tela, I challenge YOU for ILC bragging rights! Do you think I can also get a pedometer for my dog?)
